Happy New Year to all the great students and educators here at Sayre High School. As Mr. Polinski says, we truly are the little school with the big heart.
As you embark on 2016, reflect on 2015.
Did you have some awesome accomplishments?
Was there anything you would have done differently?
What new and exciting opportunities are on the horizon?
Are there any traps you need to avoid?
Here are some of the 2015 highlights I remembered. While the football program continues to grow, the SHS student body reprised its role as the Rusty Rail food donation champions. The real champion, of course, was the Valley Food Pantry. They have been serving the greater valley area for decades.
New PA Core standards took effect. Students are no longer being tested on the old standards. also known as Legacy Standards. They still exist, but they are no longer tested. Why? Who knows. (I suspect it has to do with growing the government and providing more sinecures to campaign supporters’ nieces and nephews.)
Sayre Volleyball brought in a new coaching staff, resulting in a district appearance for the first time is many years. Great job ladies.
Looking forward to 2016…
Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins were blessed with the expectancy of a new baby. Will Mrs. Jenkins have a leapling? Stay tuned…
Many teachers are single digits and counting to retirement. Having an experienced faculty and staff will be a tremendous benefit to our student body. While you may not always see eye to eye with a teacher, they always want what’s best for you.
Apple’s iPhone 7 will be released next fall. What more can be added to a smart phone? How about a homework app? Are you listening Slader?
